My Approach to Therapy
I view counseling as something we build together. For counseling to work it must be grounded in trust, curiosity, and a shared commitment to change. Ultimately, I strive to empower my clients to make changes they desire and resolve the problems they are facing. My approach to counseling is collaborative and developmentally attuned. I draw from evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Commitment Therapy, as well as strengths-based approaches. To best meet your needs, I will work with you to develop an approach that takes into account your values, needs, and preferences.
Older Adolescents
We live in complex ever-changing environments in a very fast-paced world which can often be very stressful and place many demands on us. These demands, changes, and stresses can affect us in many ways; impacting our mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical health and wellbeing. These changes and demands can feel particularly overwhelming and may result in anxiety, depression, mood concerns, trauma, relational stress, or feelings of being overwhelmed and even hopeless. When I work with older teens and young adults, I work to remain open to understanding their experiences, concerns, and struggles while working to assist them in strengthening their resilience and building the skills they need to transition to adulthood.
Adults
Adulthood brings its own set of challenges involving career shifts, caregiving roles, evolving or changing family dynamics, or the quiet questions of identity that can resurface across the lifespan. My goal is to walk alongside you in those moments, helping you clarify your goals, understand your emotional landscape, and develop practical tools to overcome the challenges and stresses you are facing while also supporting your emotional growth.
