My Approach to Therapy

I believe that therapy should be a collaborative experience which  meets your unique needs and helps you identify and achieve your goals. My focus is to establish a therapeutic environment where you feel safe exploring current stressors and problems/symptoms, as well as working through troubling past experiences and traumas. I will work with you to help you define and reach your goals for the future. I utilize techniques from CBT, ACT, and DBT to create an individualized therapeutic experience. I believe that therapy is a process, and the therapeutic journey is about practice, not perfection.

Working with Children, Teens, & Young Adults

Transitional life experiences  can be very challenging and can induce feelings of stress, anxiety and even depression. Often, transitional events, such as starting middle school, high school, and college, and graduating college, can elicit feelings of anxiety, self-doubt, and uncertainty. My approach when working with adolescents and young adults is to assist them in clarifying their  values and strengths, while also developing the skills that allow them to navigate these transitions more effectively.

I believe that it is critical to establish a collaborative relationship with adolescents and their parents (as well as other members of their support systems, when appropriate). In my experience, fostering open communication and mutual understanding between parents and teens  is crucial for effective therapy with teens. I also strive to understand, respect, and incorporate your concerns, as parents, into the therapy process

Working with Adults

Adulthood comes with its own set of challenges, whether it is managing relationships, career changes, or personal growth. My goal when working with adults is to provide a supportive and non-judgmental space where  you can explore your thoughts and feelings, gain greater insight  and understanding of your actions, choices and values, and  develop more effective strategies to improve  your overall well-being. By integrating evidence-based techniques from Cognitive behavioral therapy, Acceptance and Commitment therapy, and Dialectical Behavior therapy, I tailor the therapeutic process to meet your individual needs and to assist you in achieving your goals.

Working with Couples and Families

Relationships can be a source of joy, but they can also present significant challenges. When working with couples and families, my objective is to facilitate open communication, enhance mutual understanding, and foster stronger emotional connections. By using evidence-based approaches, I strive to help couples and families address and resolve the issues they are facing.  The focus of my work with you and your partner, or you and your family, is to facilitate conflict resolution, strengthen trust, improve communication, and increase emotional connection. My goal is to create a safe space where you and your partner/members of your family feel heard and supported, and where you can more effectively work together to establish healthier and more fulfilling relationships.
