Treatment Philosophy/Approach
Dr. Thorrud uses a strength based, relational approach with her clients and focuses on creating a safe therapeutic environment in which her clients can more openly address their concerns and increase self-acceptance and self-awareness. She views therapy as a collaborative process where client and therapist work together to build upon personal strengths and resources to heal from trauma, loss, or emotional struggles. In working with clients with substance abuse and addiction concerns Dr. Thorrud works with her clients to stop substance use and curb addictive behavior, while also assisting her clients in gaining a greater understand of what underlies their struggles with addiction.
