My Approach to Therapy
I view therapy as a partnership. I also believe that therapy should have a clear focus: goals that we are working to achieve. Therefore, at the start of therapy I will work with you and your family to identify the goals that are important to you. While my approach to therapy is primarily Cognitive Behavioral, I have experience using various therapeutic approaches. For therapy to be successful for you it is important to select an approach that fits best for you. Therefore, I will work with you to determine how we will work together. Over the course of therapy I will adjust my approach and focus, based on your feedback.
Working with Children and Adolescents
I have a great deal of experience with children and adolescents. My areas of specialization include helping children and teens who are struggling with Depression or other Mood disorders, Anxiety and ADHD. I also have much experience working with children and adolescents who have experienced trauma, including sexual or physical abuse. In working with children and adolescents, I believe that it is often useful to involve parents, and even other family members, in the therapeutic process.
Working with Adults
In my work with adults, I focus on helping my clients navigate life changes such as marriage, divorce, and blended family concerns. I work with adults to address issues such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, self-esteem concerns, and relationship difficulties. Again, while I primarily rely on a Cognitive Behavioral model I tailor my approach to fit your needs.
